In the modern automotive industry, especially with diesel engines, reducing harmful emissions is extremely important. One key component playing an important role in this process is AdBlue® aqueous urea solution, also known as AUS32. Despite its widespread use and importance, the quality control of AdBlue® is often underestimated, which can have serious consequences for the efficiency of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems and the environment.
What is the importance of quality AdBlue®
AdBlue® is very important for adequately operating SCR systems, which help reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from diesel engines. However, using products that do not meet strict quality standards can significantly reduce the efficiency of these systems and damage some modules in the car, leading to environmental pollution.
Challenges to quality control
Despite the existence of international standards such as ISO 22241, AdBlue® quality control faces several challenges:
- Insufficient regulatory supervision - in Bulgaria, as in many other countries, there is no specialized institution to control the quality of AdBlue®, as with fuels. With this aim, the producers of AdBlue® in Bulgaria created the Bulgarian Association of producers and importers of AdBlue®. It has the task of controlling the quality of the product.
- Raw material crisis - in recent years, the world market has faced a crisis in the supply of raw materials, leading some producers to work with alternative, sometimes lower-quality materials, including agricultural urea. The only laboratory in Bulgaria for quality control of AdBlue® is in the accreditation process. The laboratory's owner is TSAKI Ltd., which guarantees continuous control of the production and placement of the product. The analysis begins with the quality control of urea, mixing water, the manufactured product, the transportation process, the product delivered to the customer, and the storage method.
Practical tips for choosing quality AdBlue®
To ensure that you are using high-quality AdBlue®, it is essential to follow a few fundamental principles:
- check the certification – make sure the product complies with the ISO 22241 standard;
- choose proven brands - give preference to products from established manufacturers with a good reputation;
- Beware of fakes. Look for products sold under misleading brands or without the necessary quality certificates.
